19 Dec All Things Holiday on Daniel Island

The Daniel Island Garden Club invited me back again to share some ideas, tips and inspiration on Holiday Decorating and how it can be done keeping in step with the latest home decor trends of the year. Since Christmas is a favorite holiday around LGV, I was thrilled and couldn’t wait to share my festive ideas. I chose 3 of 2017’s hottest trends -‘Greenery’,  ‘Natural Neutrals’, and my favorite – ‘New Rule… No Rules!

Color of the Year: ‘Greenery’ stemmed from Pantone’s Color of the Year. You guessed it, Greenery! A refreshing and fun color that worked its way from Spring to Fall without skipping a beat. We saw this very cool color used as a focal point in spaces with entire rooms drenched in it. Yum! It was woven into luxurious fabrics for window treatments and bedding, and it was a designer fav as the perfect accent color in home accessories. For me, it jingled its festive self into all of my Holiday decorating!

Natural Neutrals was inspired by the Fall trend of layering neutrals through pattern, texture and color. Large scale weaves and knots in natural, raw materials such as jute, wool and grasses adding a sophisticated turn toward familiarity and cozy comfort. This modernized trend is a subtle way to draw attention to the details in your room where form and texture take the lead over bold colors and patterns.

New Rule… No Rules (or Velvet & Plaid) was a nod to extravagance and a combination of a number of Fall trends. Plaid made a giant come back in the home and on the runway. Sumptuous textures – with an emphasis on deep cut velvet – is a must, and the boldest trend of all… no rules! Be daring! Throw it down! Mix it all up with child-like abandon!

I’d like to extend big thanks to the Daniel Island Garden Club for allowing me the honor to speak at such a fun event as well as the wonderful attendees – I hope you had as much fun as I did!
