27 Mar A Charming Cottage
As new owners of this (now) charming cottage, the couple set out to find a home away from home close to their daughter’s growing family. Knowing it needed updating, they sought out the help of an interior designer that would understand their goals and concisely communicate and manage the remodeling and furnishings phases prior them moving in. LGV was highly recommended by their real estate agent.
Objective
To transform this cottage into a home where friends and family feel a warm and welcoming embrace and where grandchildren would look forward to cozy overnight stays.
Solution
Lorraine suggested removing the fuss and kitsch left from the previous owners, leaving a clean, simplified canvas. Engaging her trusted contractors to remove the faux texture on walls, hens from the kitchen backsplash, and wall to wall carpeting in the bedrooms, the remodel was approached with a light hand. After a soft hued paint palette was applied and updated lighting installed, the home was ready to be furnished. All rooms are generous in scale, so furnishings could follow suit. Over sized sectional and ottoman make for curled up movie watching, bedrooms are outfitted with lofty bedding and the custom dining table expands to accommodate all. Last step in completing this home is furnishing the large screen porch for entertaining a crowd!
