04 Nov Transition of Tradition
Lorraine was fortunate to have collaborated with her clients starting with the blue prints through to furnishings. As a new construction expert, Lorraine was retained for her expertise and knowledge in all materials needed to produce a beautiful and welcoming home.
Objective
Lorraine listened and understood her charge – create drama in the foyer; promote free flowing entertainment spaces between indoor and outdoor living spaces and, most importantly, to insure the client enjoys the process.
Solution
The double height foyer existed in the architects’ plans, but the drama was extended with Lorraine’s suggestion to disengage the stairway from the wall and add a gentle curve, which is emphasized by the black lacquered handrail. The light infused paint palette accentuated the rich; hand scraped walnut floors and sophisticated furnishings. Through skillful space planning in the large single space across the back of the home, areas were subtly spaced with furniture for cluster conversation, intimate and otherwise.
